MLB The Show 21 Player Ratings: Mike Trout, Jacob de Grom Lead Diamond Players

San Diego Studio has brought MLB The Show 21 out for early access, and that’s giving gamers a look at the best of the best in the baseball game. Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout leads the way alongside Cy Young winner Jacob de Grom as the best overall. However, several other stars are up there with them as Diamond status players. Here’s a look at some of the top stars in the MLB The Show 21 player ratings.

Trout, de Grom lead MLB The Show 21 player ratings

Just two players come in at 99 overall in MLB The Show 21 player ratings at the game’s launch and both are highly deserving. With three MVP Awards and eight All-Star appearances along with eight Silver Slugger awards, it’s clear Mike Trout is among the best in baseball. The Angels star holds a career average of .305 but this season he’s started off hot with 17 hits including four home runs in 22 at-bats. Trout’s .386 is best as of right now for all players.

Here’s a look at Trout’s in-game attributes as he clearly qualifies as the best Diamond hitter in the game.

Mike Trout is one of only two 99 OVR players at MLB The Show 21 launch.

While Trout excels at the plate, Jacob de Grom has also shown himself to be one of the best on the mound. The Mets’ ace has a Career ERA of 2.57 and 1,394 strikeouts in 186 games. This season, he’s gone 1-1, with 35 strikeouts, and holds an ERA of just 0.45 after 20 innings pitched. He currently leads all MLB pitchers with that ERA and is fifth in strikeouts. So it seems fitting that the two-time Cy Young winner is the only other 99 OVR player for now.

That said, two players checked in with 98s in the MLB The Show 21 player ratings. They include St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado and Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman, Mookie Betts. Of those players, Betts is coming off another World Series win, and he is currently one of several players from the Dodgers who reached Diamond status.

Yelich, Dodgers players react to Diamond Status

With the MLB The Show 21 player ratings, elite players are Diamond status in the game. These are typically players that have an 85 OVR or better rating in Diamond Dynasty. While the players named above are there, a bunch more are with them.

In fact, there are 40 Diamond players in The Show 21. Six of those players are members of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and rightfully so, based on their abilities, as well as expectations, they’ll defend and repeat as World Series champs.

Joining Betts among Dodgers Diamond players are pitchers Trevor Bauer, Clayton Kershaw, and Walker Buehler. Cody Bellinger and Corey Seager were also presented with special plaques for being part of the 40-member club.

Check out the video below via the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Twitter as each of the players reacts to the achievement.

The Diamond club also includes the Milwaukee Brewers’ Christian Yelich. He received a surprise from teammate Ryan Braun while at Brewers Clubhouse. Yelich was presented with his special plaque which includes his card for MLB The Show 21.

Stay tuned as players are likely to come and go from the Diamond club throughout the season. It’s also possible a few of those players within the upper eschelon may see competitors overtake them in MLB The Show 21 player ratings.
