NBA 2K League 2020 Schedule: Games to Begin on May 5 With ‘Remote Gameplay’

After being delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NBA 2K League 2020 schedule is now ready to begin. However, it will take place in a different way than normally using “remote gameplay” and commentary for multiple weeks. This will allow the 2K League teams to still play regular-season games and give fans a way to watch.

NBA 2K League 2020 Schedule start date announced with remote gameplay

According to an official statement on Monday (April 27), the official start date for the NBA 2K League schedule will be Tuesday, May 5. Originally, the league was set to begin on March 24, but due to the various restrictions on gatherings and social distancing due to coronavirus concerns, that was suspended.

The league will still employ some strategies to prevent those sorts of gatherings from happening. Similar to many of the recent online video game tournaments like NBA 2K Players Only or MLB Players League, teams will compete online against one another remotely.

There will be a total of six weeks of “remote gameplay” with teams playing games from their local markets. During the six weeks, each team has eight matches which go towards their NBA 2K League season record. These matches will be played in a best-of-three format with the team that wins the best-of-three getting one win for their record. The losing team will get one loss from losing the best-of-three matchup.

NBA 2K announcers will also call the games from their homes via “a virtual NBA 2K League Studio.” In addition, there will be games going on at the same time that announcers can switch between to provide viewers with commentary on the exciting moments and close contests.
