NBA 2K19 MyTeam Celebrates Chinese New Year With Yao Ming, Jeremy Lin, Other CBA-NBA Player Cards
The Chinese New Year 2019 officially began on Tuesday (Feb. 5) and with that, the NBA 2K19 game is celebrating. They’ve announced a new NBA 2K19 MyTeam promotion involving players from the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) over the years. These include some top stars who have played for the CBA and NBA such as Hall of Famer Yao Ming and current NBA star Jeremy Lin.
NBA 2K19 MyTeam celebrates CBA stars
There have been some major stars over the years who either came from the CBA to the NBA or ended up in the CBA after years spent with the US’ professional league. One of the biggest, literally and figuratively, is Yao Ming. He spent his entire career playing for the Houston Rockets and averaged 19 points, nearly 10 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, and 1.6 assists per game. He’s celebrated in NBA 2K19 MyTeam with a Pink Diamond card.
There’s also a Pink Diamond Stephon Marbury as part of the new holiday promotion. Marbury spent 15 seasons in the NBA, with a third of those for the New York Knicks. Some of his best numbers came as a member of the New Jersey Nets where he spent three seasons.
However, Marbury also took his talents to the CBA. He played a season each for Shanxi and Foshan before playing four-straight seasons for Beijing. During his time with the team, they won three CBA Championships and Marbury won CBA Foreign MVP for the 2012-13 season.

In addition to Yao and Marbury, gamers can look for a number of other player cards representing CBA/NBA connections. They include a Diamond Tracy McGrady, Diamond Josh Smith, Amethyst Gilbert Arenas, and Amethyst Yi Jianlian cards. The new event marks a return to NBA 2K19 MyTeam for Gilbert Arenas who they featured earlier this season with a Moments card promotion.
Here’s a look at the available cards for the Chinese New Year promotion in MyTeam:
As seen above, Yao and Marbury carry 96 ratings, which is among the highest of the group. However, by collecting all of the NBA 2K19 MyTeam cards, gamers can earn themselves a Pink Diamond Jeremy Lin. That Lin card carries a nice 97 overall rating which will certainly boost many gamers’ lineups.
