NBA 2K19 MyTeam Players: John Wall, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Get Throwback Playoffs Moments Cards

With the NBA postseason moving towards the championship round, NBA 2K19 keeps unveiling playoff heroes. These include players from present day creating magical moments, or those from the past. On Tuesday (May 21), we saw some of those stars of playoffs past including Los Angeles Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and the Washington Wizards’ John Wall. They’re amongst the latest NBA 2K19 MyTeam players featured with Throwback Playoff Moments cards.

NBA 2K19 MyTeam Players: Kareem gets Galaxy Opal, Wall among Pink Diamond cards

When it comes to basketball legends, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will always be mentioned with the greatest in the sport. The former Los Angeles Lakers center collected a number of titles with Los Angeles but also won a title with Milwaukee.

Back on April 3, 1970, Kareem scored  46 points and hauled in 25 rebounds in 47 minutes of action during a playoff game. It’s the type of double-double that some of today’s big men seem to be on the verge of, but its rarely seen in a postseason game. Kareem’s effort helped the Bucks defeat the Philadelphia 76ers, 115-106.

His Throwback Moments card joins other NBA 2K19 MyTeam players who have Galaxy Opals in the game now. He’s certainly deserving of that distinction and gamers will probably be trying to acquire this as a key asset for their MyTeam lineup.

Two players from a more recent time join Kareem amongst new cards in Throwback Moments packs. They are the Wizards’ John Wall and Bucks’ Michael Redd. Wall is still playing in the league today, although his injury this past season hampered things for him. He’s expected back next season and fans are hoping for that All-Star level of play that Wall is known for.

Michael Redd was a key part of the Bucks’ playoff runs from the 2002-03 season through the 2005-06 season. The latter of those playoff runs saw Redd set some playoff career highs. In particular, he scored 40 points in a win against the Detroit Pistons on April 29, 2006. He was known as one of the league’s sharpshooters and now has a 97-rated Pink Diamond.

New NBA 2K19 Throwback Playoffs Moments cards list:

  • Kareem Abdul Jabbar (Bucks) Galaxy Opal
  • John Wall (Wizards) Pink Diamond 97
  • Michael Redd (Bucks) Pink Diamond 97
  • Paul Millsap (Hawks) Diamond 95
  • John Starks (Knicks) Amethyst 92
  • Steve Novak (Knicks) Ruby 89

So there’s currently six cards to try to land through Playoffs Moments packs for the next week. Most likely, gamers want to add the cards near or at the top of that last to really boost their MyTeam rosters.

How to get Throwback Playoffs Moments cards

So how do you get these new Throwback Playoffs Moments cards? It’s as simple as firing up your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and heading into NBA 2K19’s MyTeam mode. From there, you have a few ways to potentially get these cards. Both ways require having some Virtual Currency (VC) or MY available to spend. Check out how to get Virtual Currency quickly in NBA 2K19.

nba 2k19 myteam packs market with throwback playoffs moments packs

First and foremost, the NBA 2K19 Throwback Playoffs Moments packs are available at the MyTeam Pack Market (shown above). These packs start at 7,500 VC or 10,500 for a single pack of five cards. That won’t guarantee any of the player cards mentioned above, though. Buying more packs gives a higher chance of that. The Market offers 10 packs at 67,500 VC and 20 packs at 135,000.

Another way to acquire most of the MyTeam cards that are released is through auctions. There are auctions currently in effect for a lot of the cards in MyTeam, although prices can vary based on the popularity of a player and the level of the card. These cards are new to the market, so the prices are still on the move, but the screenshot below shows off Kareem’s card bid prices. Expect them to keep climbing as those auctions get closer to ending.

The John Wall and Michael Redd Pink Diamond cards are starting at the 100,000 MT level, with just under two hours on most auctions. So it should be interesting to see where those two player cards end up as far as final bids. Both are stellar players and depending on what gamers needs, they can fill in the gap as needed on a roster.
