NBA 2K19 Patch 1.04 Update Adds New Rule, Fixes Steals, & Many Other Gameplay Issues

As of Friday, 2K Sports has unveiled a major NBA 2K19 patch to address a number of aspects of the game. It fixes everything from several arena updates to many gameplay tweaks to a big steals fix, and MyTeam updates. However, the NBA 2K19 patch 1.04 is still lacking in terms of addressing overall Pro-Am stability in the game.

NBA 2K19 Patch 1.04 Update Fixes Steals Issue

According to Forbes, the new 1.04 update will give gamers a helpful fix when it comes to how effective “on-ball steals” are within the game. It basically will make it tougher for players with lower defensive ratings to get steals so easily. As seen in the video below, getting a steal in NBA 2K19 wasn’t all that difficult when the game first came out.

To make steals more difficult, they tweaked the NBA 2K19 gameplay so thatĀ there’s a higher chance of a foul call if there’s body-to-body contact. Not only that, players who haul in a rebound with both hands on the ball will have “increased ball security,” and there will be a cool down period for players who overdo it with too many steal attempts over a small bit of time.

NBA 2K19 Patch – Other Fixes Made

The steals isĀ one aspect of the game that had many gamers irate. It was also just one fix out of many. In fact, some gamers have reported this update is about 7 gigabytes for the PlayStation 4. Everyone is still awaiting the official 2K patch notes to drop to show what’s new.

Some of the general updates included some “real-world changes” added to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers’ arenas. In addition, players in the game who represent Nike will have a sleeve with a Nike Swoosh on it along with the NBA logo.

Another welcome fix within the gameplay is the addition of a new rule applied to the game. After an offensive rebound, the shot clock will reset to 14 seconds, just like the recently changed rule within the NBA has it.

MyCAREER received a number of changes. Among the notable ones was that players who complete the Gatorade Reaction Drill will now get badge points for it. Also, MyPLAYER’s will represent either Team USA or Team World, respectively, during All-Star Weekend’s Rising Stars Challenge.

In NBA 2K19 Pro-Am mode, the MyPLAYER names won’t be on the back of uniforms anymore, but instead, gamertags will appear there. Also, crowd audio will finally be audible within this mode and the Pro-Am/Crews season rankings will show up once gamers enter the menu.

NBA 2K19 Patch May Have Missed Some Issues

Despite the massive update to most of the game’s inner workings, there are things to criticize. A number of gamers on a subsReddit about the patch are discussing a few of these things that still need fixes. For example, the ability to launch a three-point shot from half court while being contested seems easier for some than making easier insider shots.

Another issue mentioned by Forbes’ Brian Mazique is the overall Pro-Am stability. It’s been something that has been in the way of gamers using the feature successfully for a while. It’s unknown if the Pro-Am was among the “bug fixes and adjustments” worked into the latest update as of this report, but plenty of people would welcome that as a major improvement. Stay tuned as the notes arrive for this massive update.

The NBA 2K19 game is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PCs everywhere.
