NBA 2K19 Ratings Update: Karl-Anthony Towns & Trae Young On The Rise, James Harden Drops

In recent weeks, there have been plenty of players looking like emerging stars within the NBA. Those players include rookies Luka Doncic and Trae Young, as they appear to be the future of the NBA. Big man Karl-Anthony Towns is also becoming an absolute beast in terms of double-doubles. So it’s only natural that they’d see their numbers rise in the new NBA 2K19 ratings update. However, a few other players are slumping lately.

NBA 2K19 ratings update boosts Towns, Young

On Monday (Mar. 11), NBA 2K dropped the newest player ratings update. Big man Giannis Antetokounmpo improved by a point to a 96 as he continues looking like an MVP contender. Giannis has the Bucks playing like the best team in the East, and a team capable of dethroning the Golden State Warriors. That remains to be seen, but his current ratings look accurate.

Meanwhile, fellow big man and All-Star Karl Anthony Towns continues his climb as a huge star. His stats speak for themselves, with impressive numbers that put him among the league’s best double-double players. He’s up a point to a 91 OVR and will likely be ranked at least a 90 to 93 in the next edition of this game

Rookie Trae Young has been powering the Hawks to wins when most fans believe this is a basement-dweller. However, Young’s numbers, specifically in scoring and assists, can’t be ignored as part of a talented young Hawks squad. He recently had that sweet Pink Diamond card drop after dueling with Zach LaVine in a 4OT game. In the new ratings, Young got a huge three-point boost to bring him to an 82. He continues to battle for NBA Rookie of the Year with the Mavs’ Luka Doncic.

NBA 2K19 ratings update unkind to James Harden, others

While Greek Freak, Towns, and Young moved up, a few notable stars saw their numbers take a dip. That includes another NBA MVP contender in the Houston Rockets’ James Harden. It’s a big question mark amongst fans and gamers, as Harden has been really putting up insane numbers. He had a lengthy stretch of 30-point games or better as he’s helped this Rockets team get into the No. 3 spot in the West. Still, he also was out of action a bit, and 2K19 ratings adjusters dropped him a point to a 96 OVR.

Another guy who saw his ratings drop is DeMarcus Cousins. The Golden State Warriors star isn’t quite himself yet, but he will be a highly-valued free agent this offseason. Still, he’s a former All-Star double-double machine and 2K19 must feel he’s capable of much more. Cousins underwent a two-point drop to put him at an 86 OVR. That’s not terrible, and he may feature prominently in the latest Warriors’ title run.

Over 20 players dropped by at least one point. Other notable players with recent drops included Kyle Lowry (85 to 84), Kyle Kuzma (84 to 83), Jayson Tatum (85 to 84), and Kyrie Irving (93 to 92). Expect some of these guys to have numbers move back up in the next update.
