NBA 2K20 MyCareer Star Idris Elba Discusses the Mode, His Role in 2KTV Episode 11 Video
The new NBA 2K video game has plenty of big features in it including the debut of the WNBA and EVO cards in MyTeam. However, the NBA 2K20 MyCareer mode brought an all-star cast with it for the story that’s woven into the mode. It’s headed up by actor Idris Elba who has been in plenty of big projects ranging from TV’s Luther to movies including Thor and Avengers: Infinity War. Elba appeared on the newest episode of NBA 2KTV to discuss various aspects of the MyCareer mode.
NBA 2KTV Episode 11 features Idris Elba from NBA 2K20 MyCareer mode
In the new NBA 2KTV Episode 11, Sasha spoke to actor Idris Elba on the set of his motion-capture work for NBA 2K20 MyCareer mode. While he’s done voice work before, Elba said this is the first time he’s ever been involved in that sort of work for his own career.
It involved Elba suiting up to film his movements to create an in-game character who coaches the main MyCareer player. He mentioned it’s a different way of acting that he adjusted to because he was overly conscious of being filmed the whole time he acted out scenes.
Elba calls his character coach Ames, “A good-hearted guy. A coach that loves the game, loves the sport, but also cares for his students.” Elba also mentions that Coach Ames is stoic and possibly trying to get himself to the next level, but that he’s a “good guy.”
In the clip below, Elba talks about what sets this particular NBA 2K20 MyCareer mode apart from those of the past including the fact that King James is connected to the production.

In addition to NBA 2K20 MyCareer, the new 2KTV episode talks MyPlayer Nation. They have an interesting side-by-side comparison involving the NBA 2019-20 standings so far and the MyPlayer Nation standings. In both standings, the Lakers are at the top.
However, the Houston Rockets are No. 2 in MyPlayer Nation and No. 3 in the real NBA. Holding onto second place in the real NBA is the Denver Nuggets. Basically, the overall standings are quite different outside of the Lakers and Rockets being among the top three squads.
Also discussed in the new NBA 2KTV episode is new MyTeam content and the upcoming schedule of in-game events including a special debut.
NBA 2KTV episodes arrive every Friday on YouTube, but also in the NBA 2K20 game itself. Gamers can watch the episode as they wait for games to load. Various multiple-choice questions pop up on the screen and give rewards such as in-game gear or currency for the answers. Previous installments featured Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O’Neal, and Doris Burke. Episode 12 should arrive on Friday, November 22.
