NBA 2K20 MyTeam Kobe Bryant Evo Tribute Card Concept, Leaked Welcome Pack Surface Online

NBA 2K20 gamers are still hoping for a MyTeam tribute to the late Kobe Bryant. The five-time NBA Champion passed away several weeks ago in a helicopter crash along with his daughter Gianna and seven other individuals. Over the past several weeks, a concept image for an NBA 2K20 MyTeam Kobe Bryant EVO Tribute card has popped up online. In addition, there are rumors of a leaked Kobe Bryant Welcome Pack as a tribute to the late, great Los Angeles Lakers star.

As of right now, there are two Kobe Bryant cards in NBA 2K20 MyTeam. They are the 91 OVR Kevin Garnett Spotlight Series and a 94 OVR Prime Series VIP card. An NBA 2K20 MyTeam Kobe Bryant EVO Tribute card concept was originally created by Twitter user and NBA 2K gamer @BonesNBA. The card, shown in Bones’ concept art below celebrates the Lakers superstar with a five-star EVO item.

EVO cards are dynamic player items that gamers can evolve by completing various milestones or stats achievements in 2K20. Based on the concept below, it would feature “EVO requirements based on statistics from the Playoffs/Finals from each Championship Year.” As gamers complete each level, the card evolves and gains better overall ratings.

While BonesNBA’s EVO tribute idea first arrived on Feb. 3, the card concept art continues to find its way into the Twitter comments on various NBA 2K20 posts. The most recent was one about the new NBA 2K20 All-Star Moments cards asking which was everyone’s favorite. Some of the releases included items for All-Star MVP Kawhi Leonard, the Dunk Contest finalists, and the 3-Point Contest winner.

In addition to that Tribute card concept, there is an image making the rounds of a rumored “leaked Welcome Pack” for NBA 2K20 MyTeam. It’s supposedly a tribute to Kobe and came about by entering a leaked Locker Code. However, several gamers reported that upon entry of the rumored Locker Code that they simply received a pack full of Contracts.

So far neither of the items above are confirmed or officially available in the NBA 2K20 MyTeam mode.

Other Kobe Bryant tributes with the game

So far, there haven’t been any new releases for Kobe Bryant since his passing in terms of special MyTeam content. As mentioned there are two Kobe Bryant cards currently available in MyTeam, but the highest rating is a 94 OVR. There are also gamers creating custom jerseys for MyTeam squads in honor of the late Lakers star.

In the “Quick Play” mode, gamers can still use several different teams featuring Kobe Bryant. Those include the All-Time Los Angeles Lakers and 2000’s All-Stars teams.

NBA 2K20 previously displayed an in-game banner for Kobe on the launch screen after his passing. NBA 2KTV host Chris Manning also gave a short remembrance speech on a recent 2KTV episode in honor of Bryant. In addition to asking for a tribute card, gamers have also suggested that the NBA 2K21 game feature Kobe as the cover star.

NBA 2K20 hasn’t officially announced any further plans to pay tribute to Kobe, but fans are hoping they will find a few ways to honor the future Hall of Famer.
