Right now, NBA 2K21 is officially available as a free game on Google Stadia Pro, albeit for a limited-time offer. However, it will allow gamers who currently have Google Stadia Pro to test out the 2K Sports basketball simulation title. There’s also a free trial offer available for the Stadia service, giving other gamers a chance to play the video game. Here are all of the details for how to enjoy NBA 2K21 and how long it’ll last.
Google Stadia announces NBA 2K21 is available to play for free
The NBA 2K21 title originally came out back in September for the Microsoft Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles as well as PCs and Google Stadia. Several months later, the game arrived on next-generation PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. At the original launch time, the game had a price tag of $59.99 and higher, depending on which version one purchased.
While there were various sales over the past several months, Google Stadia Pro officially has the game available for free. The best part is that gamers don’t need to pay for the membership, that is, unless they already have one.
Gamers can currently sign up for a free one-month trial of the service. NBA 2K21 is available to play through Google Stadia Pro from right now until Tuesday, March 23.
It’s worth noting that this will be the current generation version of NBA 2K21, so it won’t be quite the experience that the Next Gen version of 2K21 offers. Still, for free, it could be worth checking out for Google Stadia Pro members.
Stadia Pro streaming service, free trial details
The Google Stadia service is completely cloud-based meaning games are streamed online through a variety of devices. Those include Chromecast Ultra devices, personal computers with the Google Chrome browser, and Android smartphones with the Stadia mobile app.
Google Stadia Pro is a monthly subscription that currently costs $9.99 per month. However, any new customer can head to the website here to try Stadia Pro for free for a month. After that, the $9.99 per month will kick in.
Each month, Google Stadia Pro gets new free games. In addition, members are able to purchase other games for discounted prices. The best part of it is there won’t be any extra downloads or updates required for games, unlike consoles or PCs.
The NBA 2K21 game currently holds an 80 overall rating for Xbox Series X/S and a 79 for the PS5, per Metacritic. It rates at 67-69 on Metacritic for the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, with ratings for the Stadia version “TBD” as of this report.
