NBA 2K21 MyTeam Challenge Features 2K22 Cover Stars Kareem, Dirk, and KD For Special Pack
As of Wednesday, 2K officially unveiled all of their upcoming covers for the NBA 2K22 video game. That included a Standard Edition, NBA Anniversary Edition, and WNBA Anniversary Edition. Each had different 2K22 cover stars on the front, with the NBA Anniversary version boasting a trio of stars. Now, an NBA 2K21 MyTeam Challenge is also available featuring 2K22 cover stars and a reward in the current and upcoming game.
2K22 cover stars Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
The NBA 2K22 cover stars for the special NBA 75th Anniversary Edition were revealed on July 14th via social media. Among them will be the legendary Los Angeles Lakers big man Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, a six-time champion and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer. Kareem announced it on his Twitter along with a look at the epic cover, which also includes current star Kevin Durant and recently-retired All-Star Dirk Nowitzki.
Kareem shared the news along with the announcement he was going to attend the NBA Finals Game 4 in Milwaukee on Wednesday. That game has several former NBA 2K cover stars playing with the Suns’ Chris Paul (2K8) and Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo (2K19).
The NBA Hall of Fame has never graced a cover of a 2K game, until now. He’s a 19-time All-Star, six-time NBA MVP, two-time NBA Finals MVP, two-time scoring champ, and six-time NBA Champion. Kareem played for both the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers over a career that spanned nearly two decades and continues to show his love for the sport.
He’s joined by a pair of likely Hall of Famers, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant. Both guys are former league MVPs and have won at least one NBA Championship along with numerous accomplishments.
Along with the above NBA 75th Anniversary edition, there were a few other game editions revealed. The Dallas Mavs’ young superstar-in-the-making, Luka Doncic, will grace the cover of the Standard Edition. Also, Chicago Sky star Candace Parker makes history with an exclusive GameStop cover in honor of the WNBA’s 25th Anniversary.
In conjunction with the cover reveals and 2K22 pre-orders going live, there’s also a new NBA 2K21 MyTeam Challenge based on the NBA’s Anniversary Edition.
NBA 2K21 MyTeam Challenge has rewards for the current and upcoming 2K game
On Wednesday, 2K also released an NBA 2K21 MyTeam Challenge for gamers to defeat. In this one, you’ll be battling the three cover stars from the NBA 2K22 Anniversary Edition. So put together your best trio for a game of Triple Threat Offline, as you’ll be going against Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
You’ll have to get to 21 points first, and of course, win by two points to win this one. If you do, you get a Diamond Kobe VI shoe card and 22 MyTeam Tokens to spend in 2K21. In addition, you’ll earn a special NBA 2K22 Pack.
It has yet to be revealed what or who is in that 2K22 pack. Could it be one of the three cover stars, or possibly a Luka Doncic player card? It should be interesting to find out when NBA 2K22 arrives on September 10, 2021!
