NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition Game for Xbox Series X is Over 120 GB in Size

The NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition launches this week for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Fans are anticipating some mind-blowing new gameplay and features in the days ahead. Ahead of the release, a screenshot is showing that the next-gen game will check in with a huge file size on Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. It’s currently unknown if it will remain that way, but could be a reason for concern.

NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition on Xbox Series X Details

The NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition will drop on Tuesday, November 10, for the Microsoft Xbox Series X/S. Ahead of that, a Reddit user has posted a screenshot from the Xbox Store which includes details. One of those is an “Approximate Size” of 121.7 GB for the next-gen game on Microsoft’s console.

The Xbox Series X includes approximately 1,000 GB of storage. The Xbox Series S, which is the lower-cost version of the next-gen console from Microsoft, has just 364 GB of storage space available for games. That wouldn’t leave a whole lot for other games beyond NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition.

There is the possibility to upgrade the amount of storage, but that will cost more. There’s a Seagate Expansion board 1 TB solid-state drive for $219.99 to add more storage for Xbox Series X/S.

There’s also speculation 2K may update the file size to trim it down, but that remains to be seen. It’s also unknown whether that file size shown above is the same for PlayStation 5.

Next-generation game to include The City, WNBA MyPlayer, more

Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen quite a bit of new developments that will make their way onto the NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition. For example, gameplay will be improved with aspects not available on current-gen. There will be a WNBA Franchise Mode, WNBA MyPlayer creation suite, and an online mode called The W.

In addition, 2K21 rolled out a trailer and details for The City, a massive online community that will be a part of Next-Gen Edition. Gamers will be able to choose one of four Affiliations there, use dance moves, ride BMX bikes or skateboards, and of course, play lots of basketball. There will even be options for HORSE games using hoops on the sides of buildings.

Those new additions, graphics, and gameplay are likely to take up some space for the game. Still, one has to hope 2K will trim things down upon launch date so that it won’t take over too much storage.

NBA 2K21 Next-Gen Edition launches on November 10 for Xbox Series X/S and on November 12 for PlayStation 5.
