NBA 2K21 PS5 Graphics Video: Announcement Trailer Stars Zion Williamson in Next-Gen Teaser

With Thursday’s Sony PlayStation 5 reveal event, video game fans got a first look at the brand new next-generation console. In addition, several gamers were announced and previewed for the console. That included a first-look teaser involving the NBA 2K21 PS5 graphics. Appearing in the first-ever footage of the upcoming basketball simulation title was none other than rookie sensation Zion Williamson.

Zion Williamson stars in first NBA 2K21 PS5 graphics video

New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson is continuing his early rise towards stardom. Over the past months, he not only became the No. 1 pick in the NBA but also inked a deal with NBA 2K to become the face of the franchise. We believe he’s got a good shot to be the NBA 2K21 cover star too.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that Zion popped up in Thursday’s NBA 2K21 PS5 graphics preview video. The game was announced for the Sony PlayStation 5 console during the special event live streaming online on June 11. Other announcement trailers included Hitman III, Bugsnax, Resident Evil Village, and Gran Turismo 7.

The 2K21 clip checks in at just over a minute in total time and doesn’t give much beyond some sound effects. We get to see Zion dribbling, soaring, and dunking. There are also a few closeups, showing his intensity, with a face shot to put emphasis on the extra sweat.

So far the early joke is just that. In order to make it seem more realistic, more sweat is being added to the player likenesses. Still, gamers are hoping for an overall improved gameplay experience once NBA 2K21 hits the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

Based on the console specs, it should offer just that and hopefully will give a smoother, quicker, and more responsive feel to the basketball sim.

Gamers are also hoping for fewer microtransactions so they’re not emptying out wallets to enjoy the game, but that probably won’t be the case.

When is NBA 2K21 release date?

The NBA 2K21 release date has yet to officially be announced. With that said, the release date for the game itself on the current platforms should come sometime in September based on previous release dates.

The NBA 2K20 game came out on September 6 for the Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PCs, with the Google Stadia version arriving in November. NBA 2K19 had a , while 2K18 was released on September 19. So from the way it looks, September is the best guess, and we’re hoping for early-to-mid-September.

However, the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X won’t be available by then, based on release date estimates. So to enjoy those NBA 2K21 PS5 graphics, gamers will have to wait a bit longer for that version of the game. We’ll be on the lookout for any details about an upgrade program, similar to what we’ve seen Microsoft will have with Madden 21 on Xbox.
