When NBA 2K21 launches for next-generation consoles in mid-November, it will bring a brand new online experience called The City. We learned all about the major details for that on Wednesday, November 4, including the revelation that Affiliations are making their return. Shortly after the big reveal on Wednesday, gamers also learned who the four Mayors will be for each of the NBA 2K21 Affiliations. They each reacted to the big news and some uploaded YouTube videos for their fans as well.
Who are Mayors for NBA 2K21 The City Affiliations?
The next-gen online community is called The City. It features quite an expansive map full of stores, buildings, courts, and other attractions. Basketball is central to the experience, obviously, with courts and hoops all over the place. There will also be dancing, skateboarding, bikes, Gatorade training, a Triple Threat Online court on a skyscraper rooftop, and more.
As mentioned Affiliations are also back, and that has people fired up quite a bit. There are four NBA 2K21 The City Affiliations with the Beasts of the East, North Side Knights, South City Vipers, and Western Wildcats. Each will have its own distinct borough with special courts and a vibe or theme associated with it.
To develop that theme and overall vibe for an Affiliation, 2K has appointed a specific Mayor in charge of each of the four Affiliations. They’ll do things like curate music playlists, create rally videos, design the courts, and select uniforms.
Based on what we saw later on Wednesday, Mayors will be influencers from social media with a large following. Ronnie 2K went on live video chat to inform each of the Mayors about their NBA 2K21 The City Affiliations.
Troydan appointed Westside Wildcats Mayor
In a video clip shared on NBA 2K21 Twitter, Ronnie 2K showed off The City trailer to influencer Troydan. He soon noticed the return of Affiliations and called it a “dub.” He also learned that he will be the Mayor of the Affiliation known as the Westside Wildcats. In the video below Ronnie informed him of some of the duties involved, with Troydan showing a mindblown graphic after it all.
Troydan took to his YouTube channel which has over 2.5 million subscribers to upload a video announcing the news. He also used it as a way to start campaigning for why ballers need to join up with the Westside Wildcats in NBA 2K21 The City Affiliations. Check it out below:
Troydan has already rallied plenty of supporters in his comments as they indicated they will be joining the Wildcats just based on the news he is Mayor. Now it will be interesting to see what he does as far as music, videos, and other thematic elements for the Affiliation.
Tyceno and SimplyGrinding are Mayors of Beasts, Knights
Troydan is just one of the four Mayors for NBA 2K21 The City Affiliations. Ronnie also spoke with each of the other three as they were revealed online. The Mayor of the Beasts of the East will be Tyceno. He also appeared to be happy with the news of his selection as Ronnie 2K told him his obligations to the community. Ronnie told Tyceno, “You have a lot of power,” before describing his various obligations to the community.
Heading up the North Side Knights in 2K21’s The City will be Simply Grinding. After giving him the news, Ronnie asked his thoughts on what he just learned about with the online community experience.
“Bigger than anything I could’ve imagined. We don’t only have Affiliations but we have new Affiliations and one of them’s Northern Knights and I get to be the Mayor. I’ve always wanted to be in a 2K game, it’s better than anything I could have imagined,” he told Ronnie.
Check out SimplyGrinding’s YouTube video about his selection as Mayor.
ShakeDown is Mayor of South City Vipers
Last but not least will be the Mayor of the South City Vipers. That honor will go to ShakeDown. He was quite excited over the news as well, and ready for the challenge of giving the community what they want the most for this Affiliation.
“I’m at a loss for words. I don’t even know what to think. This is…First off, I’m honored, allowing me to be a Mayor of a whole neighborhood, of a whole city, that’s gonna be crazy, I’m looking forward to that,” ShakeDown told Ronnie.
He currently has over 1.5 million subscribers on his YouTube channel where he also shared a video talking about becoming Mayor of one of the NBA 2K21 The City Affiliations.
It’s important to note that these are the first Mayors for the NBA 2K21 The City Affiliations. They’ll change up most likely in the future, or who knows, a Mayor may stay in power for another term or two. Stay tuned!
