NBA 2K’s popular basketball has returned for mobile devices with the NBA 2K22 Arcade Edition download. The iOS game brings the league’s top stars including Zion Williamson, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Damon Lillard, and cover star Luka Doncic. With a variety of modes available, gamers who love 2K on video game consoles are likely to enjoy the game on iOS mobile and other Apple devices.
NBA 2K22 Arcade Edition available for Apple Arcade
As of Tuesday, October 19, 2K unveiled NBA 2K22 Arcade Edition. It brings the experience of 2K’s popular video game series to mobile devices, as well as Mac computers and Apple TV. With the mobile app, there are exclusive modes including The Association and MyCOURT.
The Association is where gamers can take on the GM or coach role. They get to build a dream team, make trades, sign free agents, and more. Basically, it’s similar to Franchise from the consoles but in mobile form.
In addition, there are MyCareer and Quick Match modes. MyCareer is similar to the consoles’ MyCareer mode where gamers create their own customized player with various physical attributes and basketball skills. Once they’ve created their player, they can play on MyCOURT to improve their skills to level up, and then begin their NBA journey.
Quick Match brings a Play Now mode with 5v5 basketball games featuring NBA teams. There’s also Blacktop Mode where gamers can choose their favorite players for 1v1, 3v3, or 5v5 street basketball matchups.
Just last week, gamers got a look at the mobile app in a 30-second YouTube video trailer (below). Check out the video for more details about the game and what it includes.
The game is the follow-up to last year’s NBA 2K21 Arcade Edition, which similarly brought 2K’s basketball experience to mobile devices. It’s worth noting, there is also an NBA 2K22 mobile app available which is a companion to the console game and doesn’t involve actual game modes.
How to get the iOS mobile game and requirements
NBA 2K22 Arcade Edition download is currently available through the App Store, at the link here. The mobile game is available for not only iPhone or iPad with iOS 13.0 or later, but also the iPod touch. In addition, it is available for Apple TV with tvOS 13.0 or later, and Mac computers with macOS 11.0 or later.
The install requires an estimated 6.3 gigabytes of space for installation on the devices. It also has an option to use a video game controller with it, rather than the screen. For this, gamers need to have an Xbox or PS DualShock controller.
For customers who haven’t used Apple Arcade before, it’s a subscription-based gaming service. All new customers can use Apple Arcade free for 30 days, and after that, the charge is $4.99 per month for the service.
