NBA 2K22 Player Ratings Update: Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant Become Highest Rated Players

Could the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors be on a collision course for the NBA Finals in 2022? It appears these are the top teams in each Conference, as former MVPs are leading their squads this season. With Kevin Durant at the helm of the Nets and Steph Curry back in good health for the Warriors, they’ve also shown why they’re among the league’s top stars. In fact, the latest NBA 2K22 player ratings update says KD and Steph are the best overall.

NBA 2K22 player ratings update boosts Steph, KD

A recent NBA 2K22 player ratings update hit the popular basketball simulation game and rewarded Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant. The former teammates each received a one-point boost to become 97 overall players in 2K22. That’s the best rating amongst all players in the game, besting former MVPs LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Warriors have been particularly impressive, going 12-2 as of this report, to lead all teams in the NBA. Their wins included a convincing victory over none other than KD and the Nets, 117-99, this past week.

Leading the way in that contest was Steph with a 12-for-19 shooting night that included going 9-for-14 from downtown. He’d finish with a game-high 37 points to go with seven boards, five assists, two steals, and a block. On the season, he’s leading the league in scoring with his 27.5 points per game.

Right behind him is KD, who is averaging 28.6 per game. He’s also averaging 7.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists to continue leading Brooklyn’s charge. His Nets are currently second in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Washington Wizards who have one less loss.

Ja Morant, Rudy Gobert join 90 OVR Club

Several other players in the 90-or-better player ratings category received boosts after hot starts to their seasons. That includes the Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler, who got a two-point boost to become a 94 OVR. The multiple-time All-Star leads the Heat in points (27.5 ppg) and steals (1.9 spg) as they’re 10-5 in the Eastern Conference.

Former NBA Rookie of the Year Ja Morant is having a sweet start to his season. Ja’s averaging 25.9 points, 7.3 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game so far this season with the Grizzlies sitting at 7-7 right now. His early performances have him part of the 90 OVR or better players now.

Joining him in that group is double-double machine Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz. Gobert leads the league in rebounds with his 15.4 per game and averages 14.9 points per game. The Jazz are currently 9-5 and leading the Northwest Division thanks in part to Gobert’s continuous solid contributions on both ends of the floor.

Former cover star down in NBA 2K22 player ratings update

While good performances boost players, those who’ve had poor performances in games trend down. That included NBA 2K21 cover star Damian Lillard, who was amongst players in the 90s to drop. Lillard hasn’t been himself it seems, with his average sitting at just 20.4 points per game this season.

The Blazers are 8-8 as of this report, and while still in playoff discussion aren’t exactly lighting things up. Lillard’s currently sitting at 90 OVR, but in danger of dropping from the group of 90-or-better stars.

Other players adjusted downward who had 90-plus ratings included Luka Doncic who’s down one point to 93 OVR, and the Nets’ James Harden, down one to 91 OVR. They’re likely still in the All-Star conversation and this isn’t the end of their career-best work, but until they show improvement they’ll be slumping in 2K.

The New York Knicks’ Kemba Walker was amongst players downgraded three points to an 80 OVR. The former All-Star hasn’t found his sweet spot since leaving the Hornets several seasons ago, and despite the Knicks seeming like a playoff team, Kemba has struggled.

Also down by three points in the update were Serge Ibaka (76 OVR), Paul Millsap (75 OVR), and Danilo Gallinari (76 OVR). Check out the complete list of updated player ratings via 2K’s report here.
