What’s New in NBA Live 19

Today at EA play, EA showed off a brand new trailer for NBA Live 19 and revealed a September 7th release date.

We actually already know quite a bit about the forthcoming game. Here is what awaits us in terms of new features.

• The One: This year we will have a chance to unlock a feature called “Icon Abilities.” Creative director Ryan Santos explains, “These are going to be abilities that you can go and modify as you progress down your path. Think of this as another ability path that has customization built into it with key decisions that allow you to make that ability your own.” Also new in The One this year are additions and changes to story and presentation as well as The Streets and The League. We’ll have the chance to unlock new rewards as well.

• The League and The Streets: Play in courts all around the world. Each court will feature “global, yet local street flavor,” according to Santos. Gamers can also expect greater individualization in terms of hairstyles, tattoos and more. The narrative system is being greatly enhanced as well.

• Icon Systems: Customization is being taken to a whole new level in this year’s game. You’ll be able to load in the attributes of basketball greats, both on and off the court, and personalize them to your needs.

• Gameplay: One of the highlights of NBA Live 19 is going to be the use of Real Player Motion. This will upgrade animations, responsiveness, and realism while in play. We can also look forward to more individualization in how different players move. It will be easier to control your moves using the left stick. There will also be enhancements to off-ball player movement, triple-threat control, combo moves, counter moves, and more. Expect the entire gameplay environment to be more interactive, and look forward to more advanced and individualized AI for different players, who will actually react to events on the court according to their personalities.

• Squad Building: This is a feature where you’ll be able to recruit players from around the world to join your squad. Expect it to work a bit like an online RPG party.
