NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2020 Finalists Derrick Jones Jr., Aaron Gordon Get 2K20 Moments Cards
Saturday night brought the stars out in Chicago to watch the Skills Challenge, 3-Point Contest, and of course, the NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2020 edition. This year’s field featured the Milwaukee Bucks’ Pat Connaughton, Los Angeles Lakers’ Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic’s Aaron Gordon, and Miami Heat’s Derrick Jones Jr. competing for the title.
It would come down to a big showdown featuring two of the dunkers, with many people feeling both should have shared the trophy. However, one player claimed the win and despite that, NBA 2K20 Moments cards are going out to both.
Derrick Jones Jr. wins NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2020 against Aaron Gordon
Both Aaron Gordon and Derrick Jones Jr. had been in the dunk contest before, but never quite in a finish like they had on Saturday night. With a panel of judges awarding them multiple 50 scores throughout their dunks, Gordon and Jones would have a dunk-off that seemed to keep going all night. Fans didn’t mind one bit, though.
Eventually, the judges gave Jones Jr. a 48 score on his dunk that was executed with his takeoff from just after the free-throw line. That bested Gordon’s 47 on an impressive dunk where he jumped over Tacko Fall. That one-point difference was enough to give Derrick Jones Jr. the trophy for the 2020 dunk contest. While some fans felt Gordon was robbed, others praised both players for putting on quite a show in the Windy City.
Both finalists get NBA 2K20 Moments cards
The finale for the NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2020 was so great that NBA 2K20 released new cards for both Derrick Jones Jr. and Aaron Gordon. Gordon received a higher-rated Pink Diamond card at 97 overall while Jones Jr. got 95 OVR Diamond card. Here’s a look at the new cards revealed after Saturday’s events concluded.
The new NBA 2K20 Moments cards went live in MyTeam in the new All-Star Flash Packs that arrived just a few days ago. In addition, 2K20 released a card for the NBA Rising Stars MVP Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets. Stay tuned as more Moments items are likely to drop based on the other winners this weekend including the NBA All-Star Game MVP.
