New Apex Legends War Games Event Announced by Respawn

Apex Legends Season 8 is drawing to an end, but it seems Respawn has one final event planned before it does. Announced earlier today, the Apex Legends War Games event will be starting next week, and features a brand-new event format with playlist modifiers, rewards, and more.

The Apex Legends War Games Event

The Apex Legends War Games event will officially begin on the 13th of April, early next week. The big feature of the event is a series of playlist takeovers, starting with Second Chance. Each of these will change the core Play Apex playlist with some modifier or other, each for just a few days at a time. There will be five takeovers in total, spanning the length of the event until it ends on the 27th of April. The start and end dates of these takeovers are as follows:

Second Chance, the first takeover, grants every player a single free respawn per match. After being slain, a player’s Respawn Token consumes itself, allowing them to revive where they died. (By skydiving back down from above the spot after a short interval.) Best of all, you won’t lose any gear or weapons when this happens. This is just the first takeover too; there are another four to follow during the event.

Apex Legends War Games Event Announced
  • Second Chance: Tuesday the 13th – Thursday the 15th
  • Ultra Zones: Thursday the 16th – Monday the 19th
  • Auto Banners: Monday the 19th – Wednesday the 21st
  • Killing Time: Wednesday the 21st – Friday the 23rd
  • Armour Regen: Friday the 23rd – Tuesday the 27th

Of course, the War Games event will also feature new cosmetics and rewards, available through an event reward track. This track will work just like reward tracks in previous events; players can complete daily challenges to earn up to 5,000 total points over the course of the event. Rewards, including cosmetics, unlock at each milestone on the track. Note that you can earn no more than 1,000 points in a single day. In addition to the reward track, special event skins will be available for Bloodhound, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Mirage, Pathfinder, and Wraith. These aren’t new per se, but rather redesigns of classic skins.
