Amatangelo first joined CD Projekt in early-2020. He is best known for his previous role as Design Director for Dragon Age: Inquisition. Prior to that, he was Lead Designer for several of the expansions for Star Wars: The Old Republic. His primary role as Game Director will reportedly be leading development for the planned expansions and DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 which are due to launch later this year. (Not to mention future patches & updates.) A major initial challenge for Amatangelo may be returning Cyberpunk 2077 to the PlayStation Store. In their latest investor meeting, CD Projekt told shareholders that they were waiting on Sony to make a decision. For now, the game will remain unavailable on the storefront.

Badowski isn’t the only senior member of CD Projekt leaving the Cyberpunk 2077 team. Quest Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz also announced today that he would be leaving CD Projekt Red, after twelve years at the studio. Tomaszkiewicz has been a key figure at CD Projekt for years. Before Cyberpunk 2077, he was Game Director for both GWENT: Homecoming and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. Previously, he was also the Lead Quest Designer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. He has not yet announced any future plans, or whether he may be joining another studio.
