New Job Listing Points to Possible GTA 6 News Coming in 2020

Considering that GTA V is the most successful game of the decade by more than a few different metrics, it’s no surprise that fans are eager for any news about the next game in the franchise. Unfortunately, Rockstar has been extremely tight-lipped on that topic; the studio hasn’t even confirmed whether GTA 6 is in development, although there have been numerous rumours or supposed leaks suggesting one thing or another. Recently, Rockstar posted a job listing which some fans believe could indicate that an announcement is on the way, possibly later in 2020.

Is Rockstar Preparing for a GTA 6 Announcement Later in 2020?

Certain keen-eyed fans recently spotted that Rockstar has posted a new job listing for a video editor. Of course, new job listings are hardly uncommon or even noteworthy at major studios. However, the details of this particular job are certainly interesting. The listing makes specific reference that Rockstar is looking for somebody; “to communicate the emotional content and excitement of a game within a 60-second format”. That certainly sounds like the format of a trailer, or the sort of gameplay snippets which might be used in a game’s advertising.

GTA 6 Announcement Could be Coming in 2020 2

Of course, this could be nothing at all to do with upcoming announcements; the job details could be generic, for example, and not actually in reference to any specific future plans. However, it’s notable that a new console generation will be launching at the end of 2020. As such, E3 is likely to be a major event this year for studios to unveil next-gen titles. There have been various rumours in the last few years which suggest that Rockstar is working on either GTA 6 or Bully 2; if true, then it’s entirely possible that the studio may be waiting for an ideal opportunity to announce it.

If Rockstar has indeed been waiting for next-gen consoles, E3 2020 would be that ideal time to release a trailer. Furthermore, if they didn’t have a suitable video editor on staff, then now would be a good time to bring somebody onboard; there is ample time between now and E3 for work on trailers and marketing to get underway. For now, it’s impossible to say for sure whether any theory is accurate. Fans will have to wait and see as the year progresses.
