New Options for Steady Aim in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5

With the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 earlier this week, a range of new features were added to the game; new Mobile Broadcast Stations in Verdansk, two new Perks, etc. A more subtle, but nonetheless significant, feature of Season 5, however, are changes which have been made to the Steady Aim mechanic.

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 – Steady Aim

Steady Aim is a small but important mechanic in Call of Duty: Warzone. When aiming, holding down a specific button allows players to temporarily steady their aim; helping them to line up their shot. It is particularly useful for using scoped weapons at long-range, where even small movements can cause a shot to miss.

Call of Duty Warzone Steady Aim Changes Season 5

In Season 5, a new accessibility option has been added to help players use Steady Aim. New options can be found in the settings menu to set Steady Aim to either “Hold” or “Toggle”. This setting is specifically available now for both controllers and keyboard & mouse. The former setting is the same as it has always been. The latter, however, allows players to toggle on and off Steady Aim with a single button-press. Importantly, this option removes the requirement to hold the Steady Aim button for long stretches of time. (When sniping at long-range, for example.)

Players wanting to make use of this feature should note that it cannot be used if the Change Zoom Shared Input setting is set to Steady Aim. (The Sprint / Tactical Sprint / Steady Aim keybinding in Call of Duty: Warzone, as noted by Activision.) Otherwise, players should be free to switch their Steady Aim settings however they see fit. Of course, this change is unlikely to make a dramatic impact on the meta. However, it may help some players to improve, particularly if they find it difficult to hold the Steady Aim button down for long periods.
