Tomorrow, Creative Assembly will be launching the Eight Princes DLC for Total War: Three Kingdoms, together with the new Dynasty Mode Free-LC. However, the studio will also be launching a major new game update; Patch 1.2.0. This serves to introduce some of the Eight Princes content directly into the base game, as well as to address a variety of bugs and other issues.
Key Features of the New Total War: Three Kingdoms Patch
The first major feature of tomorrow’s Total War: Three Kingdoms patch is the free content coming with it. Even if you aren’t buying Eight Princes, some of the DLC’s content is coming to the base game. Specifically, four new units will become available; the Cataphracts, Heavy Cataphracts, Heavy Mounted Archers, and Mounted Crossbows. Additionally, 17 new armour variations will become available for the generic generals. These can be generated in-game by certain buildings, or acquired from characters.
The last update to launch for Three Kingdoms was the 1.1.1. beta patch. However, due to a bug that arose after the launch of that patch, it has remained in beta until now. As a result, much of the content in that patch will be launching tomorrow as part of 1.2.0. This includes the ability to view the family trees of all factions, changes to Satisfaction mechanics, and new marriage options, along with some more minor changes.
More Bug Fixes and Balancing in Patch 1.2.0.
Most of the rest of 1.2.0. is a variety of bug fixes. For example, reinforcing characters who activate Evasion skills will no longer suffer from a bug which caused those skills to stack indefinitely. Additionally, a bug that prevented players from attacking certain settlements has been fixed. Meanwhile, the AP damage of early game Arrow Towers has been reduced by 90%, while Trebuchet flaming shots have been re-balanced. Generals will also now be much less likely to become captured by the General in Need event.
Players frustrated that certain character recruitment events aren’t spawning should be pleased with tomorrow’s patch. Update 1.2.0. will increase the chances that many character recruitment events will trigger in-game. This includes events for Dian Wei, Gan Ning, Pang Tong, Sima Yi, Xu Chu, Xu Shu, Zhao Yun, Zhou Yu, and Zhuge Liang. Several of these characters have also been altered or re-balanced, along with a whole array of unit balance changes. For instance, 11 different ranged units that have not been able to skirmish can now do so. Click here to read the full patch notes on Total War’s official website.
