Two New Vampyr Difficulty Modes Will Launch Next Week

Vampyr, the gothic action-RPG released earlier this year by Focus Home Interactive, announced a few months ago that it would be receiving two new difficulty options. The two new Vampyr difficulty modes have now finally got a release date; they will launch across all platforms next week.

The Two New Vampyr Difficulty Modes

The two new Vampyr difficulty modes will release for all platform versions of the game on the 26th of September. Both will be included in a free game update. The first of the new modes is “Story Mode”; this option puts more emphasis on Vampyr’s narrative, decreasing the challenge and difficulty of non-story-oriented gameplay. The second option is Hard Mode, and this option is much the opposite; Hard Mode will increase the challenge of the game’s combat. Players will also receive less XP from defeating enemies in combat, as well, forcing them to gain more from “embracing” civilians. Both of these options will be available when players start a new game, alongside “Normal Mode”.

These new modes could go a long way to addressing some of the criticisms of the game made at launch. Although reviewers praised the game’s story-telling and acting, the “repetitive” combat and difficulty (described as too low) received criticism. The update which launches on Wednesday doesn’t just include the two new modes. It is also a major patch, featuring bug fixes, tweaks, and general improvements. Nvidia Ansel support will also be added to the game. This will allow players to take higher-quality screenshots. The full Third Update patch notes are available here.
