The Next Call of Duty Zombies Map Arrives Next Week

Mauer der Toten, the third Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, is finally set to arrive next week. The game’s Zombies has not received a new round-based map since Season 1, with Treyarch focusing instead on the Outbreak mode for the last couple of seasons. Mauer der Toten is due to arrive in-game on the 15th of July.

Mauer der Toten will be the next major chapter of the ongoing Dark Aether storyline, following the recent “prologue” offered by Operation Excision; the latest content update for Outbreak which launched at the start of Season 4. It will be the first round-based map to launch for Black Ops Cold War since Firebase Z in Season 1.

Taking place in the ruins of Berlin, which has been overtaken by the undead, Mauer der Toten is packed full of new content; new enemies, new weapons, new perks, and more besides. For example, the CRBR-S Wonder Weapon is a new handgun with four different variants, while players will also be able to craft the LT53 Kazimir. The new Perk in Mauer der Toten will be Mule Kick, which will allow players to carry three weapons.

Details on the new enemies are still under wraps. However, Treyarch has revealed details of a major meta update which will be launching alongside the new map. The biggest change is a major reduction to enemy health caps. Zombies are down to +100% at high rounds, rather than +300%, for example. Similar reductions affect Specials (down to +50% from +100%), Elites (down to +25% from +100%) and HVTs (down to +10% from +30%). Medium and Heavy zombies are also getting a 30% reduction to armour health.

Zombies aren’t just getting a nerf, however. Players can also look forward to some useful buffs, particularly for sniper rifles. This weapon category will enjoy a boost to critical damage multipliers, maximum damage, and stock ammo. Plus, the Pack-a-Punch melee weapon and triple damage multipliers are also getting a buff. Finally, Treyarch states that; “Equipment and Support will now be much more consistent in their ability to kill enemies, and Lethal Equipment and ground-based Support will see an increase in damage in many instances.”
