Ninja Lashes Back Against Fortnite Rehab Craze

Remember the other day when we reported that parents are blaming Fortnite for their kids losing sleep and getting bad grades? Some have even gone so far as to send their kids to “rehab” for Fortnite addiction. This is making headlines globally right now. Well, streamer Ninja has spoken up in defense of the game and against bad parenting.

Ninja Has Something to Say to Fortnite Rehab Parents

On Twitter, Ninja responded to the same tweet which we shared the other day from TicToc by Bloomberg.

The original tweet says, “Fortnite addiction has become so serious that some parents are sending their kids into rehab.”

Ninja replied, “Title should be “Terrible parents don’t know how to take their kids gaming system away.”

Since posting his reply, it has received more than 32,000 likes, more than 800 comments, and more than 3,500 re-shares.

The streamer’s word carries so much weight that even TicToc by Bloomberg was forced to accede his point. They responded, “Ninja raises an interesting question: Who’s to blame for video game addiction? Parents, here’s what you can do to limit your child’s play.” With their reply, they posted an infographic.

Frankly, in some respects it is annoying that the original news story went as viral as it did. We are guessing that the actual number of parents who are sending their kids to Fortnite rehab is pretty small. And the vast majority of Fortnite players are leading balanced lives. But this whole thing got overblown. This probably caused undue worry among other more reasonable parents who might still lean a bit toward paranoia.

Ninja isn’t too impressed with “Fortnite rehab” parents.

TicToc by Bloomberg’s response to Ninja pretty much confirms this. As Ninja himself pointed out, the real news here has nothing to do with Fortnite being an “addiction.” It has to do with the fact that some folks are really, really bad at being parents.

This is exactly why we titled our own story, “Parents Blame Fortnite For Kids’ Falling Grades.” Keep up with the rest of our Fortnite news. And remember, parents—you can always put away the console (so long as you are not using it)!
