Omega Labyrinth Z PS4 and Vita Western Release Canceled

The Western release for Omega Labyrinth Z PS4 and Vita has been completely canceled by its publisher PQube. PQube made the announcement today on its official website. The UK-based publisher has canned any chances of the Japanese adult dungeon-crawling game coming here to North America and Europe as previously planned. This is unfortunate news for anyone who was excited or had pre-ordered the game.

Omega Labyrinth Z was originally scheduled to release in Spring 2018 here in North America and Europe, with localization being done by publisher PQube. Summer is upon us and there still hadn’t been an official delay for the game. Unfortunately, a delay won’t be happening as it is simply not releasing officially in English anymore. The reason for this has nothing to do with localization troubles or contractual agreements with developer Matrix Software.

Omega Labyrinth Z Canceled PS4 and Vita

Instead, PQube outlined the reason for the Omega Labyrinth Z PS4 and Vita cancelation in the blog post on its website. You can read the full response below:

“PQube strives to release Japanese content for its fans as close to the source material as possible. In the case of Omega Labyrinth Z, while PQube has worked with all relevant age rating bodies in their respective territories, PQube must respectfully comply with the wishes of the platform holder and have therefore withdrawn any future plans for Omega Labyrinth Z’s European and North American release on PS4 and PS Vita.”

This announcement comes shortly after the game was refused classification in the UK. It is possible that wasn’t the only region to refuse the adult dungeon-crawling title, leading to this cancelation. The game is still available in its home country of Japan on PS4 and Vita. Hopefully, PQube’s hard work localizing Omega Labyrinth Z doesn’t go completely to waste and it can still be released on PC via Steam where adult games are far more common. If this has you bummed out, we recommend checking out Clannad on PS4.
