One Redditor Guessed Destiny 2 Forsaken’s Story Twist Ahead of Schedule

Destiny 2’s upcoming Forsaken expansion is going to shake the game up in big ways from a gameplay perspective, but as the expansion’s recent story trailer showed, it will also have some major impacts on the game’s story as well. The events shown in the trailer likely came as a shock for many dedicated players, but for one Redditor, it was merely confirmation of a prediction that was made nearly an entire week ago.

Spoilers for Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion follow!

The Forsaken story trailer closes out with one heck of a gut punch. Cayde-6, the beloved Exo Hunter who is voiced by acclaimed Firefly actor Nathan Fillion, is apparently murdered at the hands of the Awoken Prince Uldren, a character whom fans haven’t seen since the original Destiny’s 2015 expansion The Taken King. Uldren made his distaste for Guardians known right from his initial introduction in the original Destiny’s story campaign, a distaste which fortunately wasn’t shared by his sister, the Awoken Queen Mara Sov. Both Mara Sov and Uldren disappeared during the opening moments of The Taken King, but now it looks like Uldren is back, and without his sister holding his leash, he’s making good on his belief that the universe is better off without Guardians in it.

One Redditor predicted Cayde-6's fate with surprising accuracy.

Despite its short length, the Forsaken story trailer was a lot for fans to process, but for Redditor ArkConsular, it matched up surprisingly well with a series of predictions they made last Thursday, a full four days before Bungie officially debuted the trailer itself. Using a combination of previously uncovered lore, in-game item descriptions, and guesswork, ArkConsular was able to predict that Cayde-6 would die, that Uldren would be the one to pull the trigger, and that Uldren would use Cayde’s own gun to do the deed. All three of those points wound up being accurate, proof at least that the answers to some of Destiny’s mysteries are hidden in plain sight for those who are willing to look.

Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion will launch on September 4 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
