Voting Is Now Live For Overwatch League All-Star Game

The Overwatch League’s All-Star weekend is scheduled for Aug. 25 to 26 in Los Angeles, and fans get to choose who will be on the stage.

Voting is now open for the Overwatch League’s All-Star game, allowing fans to choose the starting lineups for each of the two teams – Atlantic division and Pacific division.

Six players from each team will be chosen by fans, with six votes allowed per team per fan (two votes per position). Then, 12 additional players per division will be chosen for the All-Star team by players, coaches and Overwatch League staff.

All players from the Overwatch League are eligible, but only 36 players total will be selected to compete in the All-Star event.

The All-Star weekend will also feature “fun skill events” prior to the main event on Aug. 26. This brings to mind some All-Star fun skill events for traditional sports, such as the Home Run Derby for the MLB and the slam dunk contentst for the NBA. It will be interesting to see how this translates to Overwatch.

Voting for the All-Star teams ends with the conclusion of Stage Four on June 17. Starters for each team will be announced the week of June 18, with reserve players revealed soon after. Blizzard expects further details to follow “soon.”

The Overwatch League’s fourth stage is going on right now, with playoffs scheduled to begin on July 11 at the Blizzard Arena. After that, two teams will move on to the Overwatch League grand finals in Brooklyn, New York.

The grand finals will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. This morning, Blizzard announced that all 20,000 seats in the arena have been sold.

That makes the Overwatch League grand finals the biggest esports event at the Barclays Center to date when it begins on July 27.

“We knew the Overwatch League had amazing, enthusiastic fans, but this is something else,” Overwatch League commissioner Nate Nanzer said. “We’re incredibly excited to play to a packed house at one of the world’s premier sports and entertainment arenas. With the help of our broadcast team, our partners, and Barclays Center, we’re going to put on a first-class show for everyone in attendance, and for the millions more who will be watching online.”

Tickets for the grand finals went on sale just two weeks ago, starting at $60 for general admission two-day tickets. Fans were also able to upgrade their tickets to either the grandmaster or master packages, which give fans extra access, photos, and swag.
