Patrick Mahomes Gets Madden 19 NFL Honors Card, Jokes About Playing Basketball With NBA 2K

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes surpassed expectations by quite a bit over the past NFL season. Most fans didn’t expect him to be the frontrunner for NFL MVP for most of the Chiefs’ campaign, but that’s exactly what he was. Just recently, they made it official by handing him the Offensive Player of the Year award and now Madden 19 NFL Honors has reciprocated for gamers.

Patrick Mahomes’ Madden 19 NFL Honors card

In the Ultimate Team portion of Madden, they’ve been adding NFL Honors cards for the players who won awards for the 2018-19 season. They recently released new cards for the NY Giants’ Saquon Barkley and Indianapolis Colts’ Darius Leonard, who won the Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year awards, respectively. There had yet to be a Patrick Mahomes Madden 19 NFL Honors card, until today.

The Mahomes card is now live and features a 98 overall rating for the MVP winner. His top skills include a 98 Throw Power for hitting those big passes down the field. He’s also got a nice Throw Accuracy of 95 for short passes and a 93 for deep passes. Check out his limited time card below as seen via EA Madden Ultimate Team’s tweet.

In addition to Patrick Mahomes, a new Madden NFL Honors card is available for Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. He was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year while Mahomes was Offensive Player of the Year. Donald racked upĀ 41 solo tackles, four forced fumbles, and a league-leading 20.5 sacks this past season.

His team came up short in terms of winning Super Bowl 53. Still, with players like Donald and Ndakumong Suh on the defense, it won’t be surprising if their defense helps them make a return trip next season. As seen below, Donald also has a 98 overall for his NFL Honors card in MUT. That includes 97 Strength and Power Moves amongst his seven different skills in the 90s.

Patrick Mahomes jokes about NBA 2K basketball

Mahomes not only made recent headlines for his NFL MVP award, but for a viral video in which he was playing pickup basketball. That video garnered interest from so many people, it even got the attention of the Kansas City Chiefs organization. They decided it’d be best if their star quarterback stayed away from the basketball court so he doesn’t risk injury.

Mahomes took it in stride, as he found out there’s another way he can still enjoy the other sport. Just like Madden recreates football for those who can’t play professionally, NBA 2K allows fans to play virtual hoops. Mahomes posted to his Instagram story to show that he’ll be doing just that.

Fans are already pointing out the player name listed on Mahomes’ 2K game. As seen above, it appears either Mahomes is a big fan of his head coach Andy Reid or could be using his created player for the game. Either way, it’s good to see the Chiefs quarterback and league MVP still finding a way to enjoy another sport he loves, virtually speaking.
