PES 2020: Konami Reveals Details for eFootball Competitions With $2M Prize Pool

Konami continues to bring exciting announcements with Pro Evolution Football. In the coming season, they will be offering a newly updated eFootball competition for the PES 2020 game. Their recent announcement presents a series of events to crown the best overall PES player and pro club. They will involve fierce battles from late 2019 into summer 2020. However, there will also be a hefty prize pool across the competitions.

PES 2020 events include eFootball.Open for skilled solo competitors

Konami’s PES 2020 is currently part of Gamescom 2019 with a number of announcements arriving as the event takes place. Yesterday, they unveiled the big news of UEFA Euro 2020 tournament coming to PES 2020 thanks to a partnership. Now, they’ve revealed their esports competitions.

Two separate competitive events will make up the eFootball schedule for the coming season of PES. Each will crown different types of champions. The “eFootball.Open” is now the name for PES League. It will give the best amateur players the ability to compete in an open tournament.

The eFootball.Open is a one-vs-one format and gamers will be able to compete in the Matchday mode in PES 2020. Based on level, users will become sorted into different classes. Ultimately, the “top-tier” competitors will end up qualifying online to go to the Regional and World Finals. There will be monetary prizes available as well for those events.

Th eFootball.Open begins with the online ranking aspect of the competition from November 2019 into February 2020. Qualifying competitors will compete in the Online Finals starting in March 2020, with the Regional Finals set for May 2020. The eFootball.Open Final will crown a champion in July 2020.

eFootball.Pro to decide best pro PES team

eFootball.Pro is a different event with skilled PES 2020 competitors who are from real-world football clubs in Europe. This is a 3-vs-3 tournament consisting of professional competitors. They’ll be battling for bragging rights and monetary prizes in a series of competitions.

Each of the professional clubs selects the players who represent them in eFootball.Pro. They consist of last season’s pro players and players from Konami’s PES League Regional and World Finals last season.

The eFootball.Pro League matchups take place from November 2019 into April 2020. The Knockout Stage for the competition is in May 2020. After that, the best three-person club should be crowned in the European event.

Competition prize pool, other events

The total prize pool will come in at $2 million across the various competitions. However, Konami revealed that eFootball.Pro League has “significant prizes available.” In addition, they revealed there will be joint sponsorship competitions. These events include eJLeague or Toyota e-League, among others. These local eFootball tournaments take place in Asia, South America, and Europe.

Konami announced the details of the competitions on their official website. The company is in partnership with Esports Media Rights (EMR). That is the esports company founded by Gerard Pique, Spanish football star. See more details about the PES 2020 competitions at the Konami website.

There is currently a PES eFootball demo available for free on various platforms so gamers can start practicing early. The full version of the game releases on September 10, 2019, for PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.
