PlayStation Now Could Be Getting A Download Option

PlayStation Now is a service on PlayStation 4 that, while many find useful, has always been wanting for a special feature that it didn’t have upon introduction: a download feature. It looks like that’s about to change, with a new “Download Game” option potentially in the cards, if an eagle-eyed gamer’s screenshot is any indication.

Currently, PlayStation Now lets you stream a selection of games available on the service on your PS4 for a monthly fee. There are tons of games to choose from, but you have to be able to stream the games. If you have internet service that requires you conserve space with data caps or things like that, you’re not going to want to be streaming the games that much. That’s why many users, even those who want to pay a small fee to access several titles like that, end up not subscribing. If you could download a game rather than streaming it, that would make it a much more attractive option.

Thanks to Redditor satertek, it looks like we might be able to welcome that feature to the service soon. Satertek noticed there was a “Download Game” option while streaming a game on the service, right between “Browse Games” and “Return to Home Screen,” as you can see in the image.

According to the poster, the image was taken while playing Alpha Protocol, and it doesn’t seem to be available in all games just yet. Sony hasn’t given any comment on the situation, nor has it confirmed that this option will indeed be available. But it would certainly be a boon if it did end up coming to the service, especially since it would make a lot of sense to be able to download the games you want to play just like Xbox’s Game Pass service, as it would be a lot more convenient that way.
