Pokemon Phoenix Rising Fan Game Features Original Region and Player Choice

The new Pokemon Phoenix Rising fan game is out right now for you to download it. This latest fan game is noteworthy for a few different reasons. Some of the most obvious details simply upon glancing at it are the better graphics than just about any other fan game out there. This is because, unlike others, it utilizes RPGMaker instead of modding the GameBoy Advance Pokemon games.

Because of that, there are some important details that add a nice bit of touch. For example, the turn-based battles actually feature hand-drawn backgrounds, which is unique for a 2D Pokemon game. The game is episodic with episode one or the “demo” being available right now. In episode one, you play as a trainer enrolled in Trinita University in the original region of Hawthorne.

The original region and premise aren’t the only unique things about Pokemon Phoenix Rising. The story promises a morally ambiguous plot in which there are plenty of player choices to make. Not every decision will be as simple as black and white, with your specific decisions affecting the ending and results that you get. As today only marks the release of episode one, don’t expect to see the full game through to its end just yet.

Being that you attend University in Pokemon Phoenix Rising, you will be able to choose your area of study that affects your skill tree as a Trainer. Though it seems there aren’t any completely original Pokemon in the fan game, there are some unique takes on existing pocket monsters. There are Relic versions of existing Pokemon like Koffing and Flabebe similar to Alolan forms, while there are also some new and original Mega forms of various Pokemon like Arcanine and Lilligant.
