Pokemon Will Have “Shocking” Announcement This Thursday, Possibly Pokemon Switch

The Pokemon Company has officially teased a “shocking” announcement that will be coming this Thursday, presumably for Pokemon Switch. Fans have been eagerly waiting for months now for a taste of what’s to come next for the pocket monster series. Will it be the eighth generation? Remakes of previous games in the series? Many have wanted to know since the initial tease at last year’s E3 show.

Well, the moment you’ve all been waiting for may finally be here very, very soon. The Pokemon Company has revealed that a major announcement is coming this Thursday on May 31st, 2018. The biggest potential guess is it is related to Pokemon Switch, especially after the countless leaks and rumors over the last couple of months. News of this tease come via Serebii.net.

Apparently, the “shocking” news will be revealed in Japan at around 7:05 local Japanese time, which is late on Wednesday evening for most of us here in the West. It will be revealed on a popular Japanese Variety Show for children called Oha Suta at that time. This Thursday’s online description for the episode declares that the potential Pokemon Switch-related news will be “shocking” and as “a moment a new story begins.”

Interestingly enough, Oha Suta quickly removed that description and has now replaced it with only saying that the episode this Thursday will be “full of Pokemon information.” It is likely that the original description was not meant to be shared just yet, as it does hint towards the new Pokemon Switch title(s) we expect later this year.

This seems the best bet for the official unveiling of what the Pokemon Switch games will be, so hold onto your Trainer hats. Recent leaks have suggested that the games will be called Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee, returning the series to its Kanto roots. We believe this leak to be true and we are sure to find out officially very soon. For everything you need to know about that official announcement later this week, keep it locked right here.
