Pokken Tournament Championship Series 2019 Roadmap Revealed

Pokken Tournament is a very popular competitive scene. Despite the fact that the scene itself is a bit quieter than ones like Dragon Ball FighterZ or Smash; it still is a game with a great competitive presence. In fact, a lot of tournaments for Pokken have been celebrated across last year. Furthermore, a new series of tournaments will happen this year with Pokken World Championship 2019.

Today, The Pokemon Company introduced the roadmap for 2019’s Pokken World Championship tournaments. Those who qualify at these events will be joined by the best competitors from Japan. The prize is a pool of over $20,000 USD which wait for the champion of the Pokken Tournament Championship Series.

The tournament will take a 3v3 format; each player will choose 3 Pokemon to fight in the tournament. The first player to knock out all three of their opponent’s Pokémon will win the game. It’s also important to mention that the tournament series will use a Double Elimination bracket.

There will be two age divisions for all competitors. The Masters Division is for competitors born in 2003 or earlier and the Senior Division is for competitors born in 2004 or later. The 2018 Pokken Tournament World Champion Jacob “ThankSwalot” Waller will automatically qualify for a spot in the Masters Championship Bracket.

Competitors will require to use a HORI Wired Controller during the events. No other Switch controller will be admitted, wired or otherwise. The first event will take place at Melbourne, Australia on February 15, 2019. More events are going to happen across the year leading up to the Pokemon World Championship event at Washington D.C.
