PS5 is Currently Owning Xbox Series X on Social Media

It’ll be some time before we know who wins the console war in the next generation. But if we want to measure who is ahead just going by social media engagement, Sony has taken the lead, and by quite a margin.

On Social Media, PS5 is Garnering Way More Engagement Than the Next Xbox

If you want to know just how far ahead of Microsoft Sony is right now, consider what VGC reported. On Instagram, “Less than 48 hours after it was posted, the PS5 logo image has amassed almost five million likes and 136,000 comments, easily surpassing the second-placed image post, Fortnite’s Avengers Endgame crossover announcement from April 2019 (2.7 million likes).”

So, now let’s compare that to Microsoft’s success promoting the Xbox Series X on Instagram. For the Instagram post on the reveal of the Xbox Series X, Microsoft managed to get 436,000 likes and 11,200 comments. Further, that was after a month passed, not a mere 48 hours. Wow. There really is no comparison there, is there? It is even crazier when you consider that the PlayStation post concerned nothing more than a PS5 logo which looks almost just like the PS4 logo. That shouldn’t get nearly the attention of a console reveal, but what do you know? Apparently that PS5 logo is a lot more interesting.

Actually, we doubt that this spells doom for the Xbox brand in any way. If anything, all the attention the logo post got probably had more to do with the memes regarding the logo than the logo itself. When all the hype leading up to the logo resulted in nothing more than a change from “4” to “5” in the logo we all know so well, the amused reactions went viral.

Hopefully, there will soon be some more news on the unique features which set PS5 apart from its predecessor. Stay tuned and keep up with our PlayStation news for further updates on what is next in the worlds of Xbox and PlayStation.
