PUBG Patch 13 Includes Parachute Skins, a New Crate and Bug Fixes

PUBG patch 13 has pushed live however it doesn’t include the new map Sanhok. There are many updates that players of one of the worlds most popular battle royale games are waiting for, including the new map, performance fixes and greater compatibility for competitive play. What we got in patch 13 however is a small, mostly cosmetic, update that is bringing us parachute skins.

The main points of note start with the minor gameplay updates listed below:

Gameplay

  • Both the Lightweight Grip and Half Grip can now be attached to the Vector.
  • Some minor weapon balance adjustments:
    • First shot from the M16A4 now has less recoil.
    • Decreased the spread of shotgun pellets.
    • Shotgun chokes and duckbills are now less effective at decreasing spread (so the effective spread for a shotgun with a choke or duckbill will be similar to before)

The next actually functional part of the update are the bug fixes which appear to mostly fix visual errors that don’t have a huge impact on gameplay and instead mostly polish small parts of the experience that weren’t likely to break the game too much in the first place. With that being said, any improvement to the game is welcomed at this point.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where certain buildings in Miramar were shown with default textures

  • Fixed some walls in Miramar that could be partially passed through

  • Removed the white mark that appeared alongside the aircraft icon on the minimap

  • Scope reticle settings should no longer reset when weapons are dropped and picked up again

  • We’ve improved the holographic sight’s reticle. It’s now the same size as a character silhouette seen from 100m away

  • Certain animations on the buggy and minibus have been fixed

  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused characters to sit at odd angles if entering into vehicles from a prone position on a sloped surface

  • Fixed an issue causing red dot and holo sight reticles to get smaller and blurry when swapping weapons

  • “Damage-received” sounds should no longer play after winning a game

Finally the biggest portion of the update, the new crate. First of all we have the parachute skin that, like the Target Practice Pan, you can purchase outright from PUBG for $4.99. Second there is the actual crate which once again requires players to purchase a key to open.

Added new parachute skin

  • The “Bengal Tiger” parachute skin can be purchased separately as an individual item for $4.99(price will vary slightly in some regions, based on global exchange rates). It can be purchased only once per account.
    • Bengal Tiger is unable to trade in Steam market
  • It is purchasable in STORE > ITEMS menu

However, not everything this patch brought was in the patch notes as an immediate effect. Personally the most exciting part of the patch notes is the small line ” Additionally, we’re considering adjusting drop rates for weapons, so please keep sharing your feedback with us.” which I’m hoping they will act on in the future.

But there is an issue with this patch and that is they appear to have broken the audio in parts. What I mean by that is that professionals and streamers such as BreaK are having issues with the audio of gunfire sounding not only completely different to before but also wrong. Players firing near to them sound as though they are in a different building or area of the map entirely. It remains to be seen if any acknowledgement or action will be taken in regards to this.
