There are many things you can do in Red Dead Online like joining posses for story missions and hunting down gang hideouts. As you go about doing these activities, some players are concerned about Red Dead Online horse death. This is absolutely an understandable concern considering that your horse can die in the singleplayer story mode.
But is the same true for the online multiplayer? In this guide, we are going to cover everything you need to know about Red Dead Online horse death. Does your horse die? If so, how do you go about preventing its death? And so on. Without further ado, let’s jump right in and figure out what can happen to your precious horse companion online.
Is There Red Dead Online Horse Death?
In the original story mode about Arthur Morgan, your horse partner can permanently die if it loses too much health. This can be prevented by using a Horse Tonic for reviving. Thankfully, Red Dead Online is much more forgiving. The short answer is, no, your horse can’t die in Red Dead Online. However, there are some caveats to this that you should know about.
Even though there isn’t direct Red Dead Online horse death, there are some problems you can run into. If it loses all its health, it will become critically injured. If this happens, you can use the same tonic as before within one minute and it’ll get back up immediately. However, if you don’t use a tonic, you will need to pay to heal your horse before you can really ride it again.
This can be done in a couple of ways. You can pay using the player menu or visit a stable for a much less costly fix. There is horse insurance, too, which automatically heals your horse but that isn’t super necessary. Also, if another player kills your horse, they have to pay for healing and vice versa.
