Red Dead Online: How to Parlay and Feud with Other Players

On the surface, Red Dead Online may seem like a lawless online playground, and in some regards it is. However, Rockstar has also implemented a unique parley/feud system which adds a little method to the madness. In this guide, we’ll explain what the parley/feud system is and how you can use it in Red Dead Online.

Red Dead Online comes with feud and parlay systems built in.

The Parlay System

Given the nature of Red Dead Redemption 2’s world, some online mischief is to be expected. After all, why bother venturing into a world of outlaws and criminals if you can’t cut loose a bit? Having to deal with jerk players is never fun though, so Rockstar went ahead and implemented some unique gameplay tools.

If one player kills another multiple times in quick succession, the player being killed can opt for a parlay. While the parlay is active, the two players can’t directly harm each other for a full 10 minutes. Ideally this allows the players to cool their heels and work out their differences using words. If, for example, another player feels you’ve slighted them in some way, you can explain yourself without fear of repercussion.

The Feud System

The Feud system, meanwhile, is for players who’d rather not settle things with civil discourse. Again, a feud can only be triggered after one player kills another several times in short order. Also, unlike a parley, both players must consent to the feud before it’s activated. Once a feud is triggered, both players can freely kill each other without repercussion for three minutes. The game even displays a score counter so each player knows how many times they’ve killed the other.

Feuds may seem pretty basic at first glance, but they have plenty of potential. If your opponent is ok with a fair fight, you can use feuds to see who’s the better gunslinger. You can also use feuds as a way to blow off some steam in a structured, risk-free environment. Both parleys and feuds can also be used when you’re in a posse. It’s not hard to imagine two rival posses using the feud system to set up an impromptu free roam showdown.
