Red Dead Redemption 2: A Roundup of Money-Making Glitches

There are plenty of legitimate ways to make money in Red Dead Redemption 2, some of which are quite lucrative. However, if you’d rather line your in-game pockets using glitches and other trickery, there are ways to do that as well. We already covered one of the more widely known gold bar glitches, but it turns out there are plenty more. This guide provides a rundown on all the known money-making glitches and exploits in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Money-Making Glitch Roundup

Dutch would be proud of these Red Dead Redemption 2 money-making glitches.

If you’d rather not use the above gold bar glitch, there are three other options available to you. As usual, make sure you follow the proper precautions to avoid messing up your main save game.

Ambarino Statues Gold Bar Exploit

Turns out there’s a second gold bar glitch you can utilize if the first one isn’t to your liking. This glitch involves travelling just below the “I” in “Ambarino” on your map. There you should find a cave and inside a crevice leading to a room with a series of statues. The statues represent a puzzle, and you can solve the puzzle by facing the statue in the middle. Approach the statue and “activate” it. Then, going in a clockwise direction, skip the next statue but “activate the following three for four activations total.

If you did everything right, a hatch in the middle of the room should open up, revealing three gold bars. Start picking up the bars, and as you’re picking up the third one, quickly pause the game. From the pause menu, manually save to a new save slot and then reload that save. If the glitch worked, you’ll reload with the three gold bars on the ground and three more in your inventory. Repeat the glitch as often as you like, noting that each gold bar can be sold for $500.

Mattock Pond Money Glitch

This glitch circumvents the whole gold bar process and instead involves infinitely spawning cash. First, travel to the “C” in “Mattock Pond” on your map. There, you should find a tree with a lockbox hidden in its trunk. Turn off the auto-save feature and then open the lockbox. As you’re opening it, pause the game, save to a new save slot, and then load that save. Return to the lockbox and it should now spawn an infinite number of $20 bills.

Infinite Pelts Glitch

This glitch is a little more involved than the previous two, but it can still be quite lucrative. Even better, this glitch doesn’t involve messing with your save game files, so keep that in mind. Before you can attempt this glitch, you’ll have to do a few things out in the world:

  • Acquire an animal pelt, the higher quality the better.
  • Purchase the Horse Station camp upgrade and have at least two horses “saved” at the station.

Another thing to note is that this glitch always fails the first time you attempt it. However, from the second attempt onward it should work every time. Start by laying the pelt you want to duplicate on one of your saved Horse Station horses. Then, request a different horse and move the original horse a few feet away. Request the new horse again and the original horse should disappear while leaving the pelt “floating” in the air.

You can take the pelt from its floating position and place it on the ground. Go back to the Horse Station and request the original horse, the one you placed the pelt on. If you did everything right, the horse should spawn with the pelt still on its back, leaving you with two pelts. This glitch can be repeated as many times as you like simply by requesting the original horse again.
