Fortnite is getting its very first vehicle, though it probably isn’t the same kind of vehicle you were expecting. The newest addition to the battle royale game is indeed something no one could have called: a shopping cart. Yes, the latest message of the day displayed in-game revealed the Shopping Cart vehicle, which comes with a description as well: “Roll into battle alone or with a buddy!” It’s all part of Fortnite’s impeccably silly gags and hardly ever serious tone, especially with the recent addition of food trucks and other random surprises.
The cart seems like it’ll be a special vehicle that one or two players can ride around in, but the question arises of how the shopping cart will propel itself on its own. They’re usually pushed by human beings, obviously, and can’t move around on their own. Perhaps there’s some sort of jet propulsion with the cart that can drag you along to your intended destination. It could be possible that you can push other players with the cart, which would be admittedly weird to see, but we’ll have to wait and look for the latest game update when this week’s patch rolls around to figure out how the cart itself will work.
It’s pretty interesting that Epic Games would choose to add a shopping cart of all things to the game, but hey — that kind of weird spirit is what Fortnite is all about, afterall. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the New Updates section and this week’s patch notes to let you know how and what you can do with the shopping cart and whether it’s worth “rolling into battle” with. You never know, it could just be some sort of fun cosmetic. Or it could become an integral part of Fortnite battles. Who knows? We’ll keep you updated, that’s for sure.
