Sony (Kind Of) Responds to Frustrated Fortnite Fans Playing on Switch

Sony has been dealing with a growing amount of backlash over the past few days ever since Fortnite made its Nintendo Switch debut. Thousands of Fortnite fans have been getting angrier and angrier since they discovered that you can’t actually use a Fortnite account that’s ever been used on a PlayStation 4 with the Nintendo Switch version.

Specifically, Sony has blocked Epic Games from allowing the cross-play mechanics that would have allowed players on both systems to enjoy the game together, and as such no one can play the game on Switch if they’ve ever so much as logged into an account on the PlayStation 4, which is pretty crazy.

Sony has issued something of a weak response, which is in all honesty pretty pathetic, if you really read into it.

”We’re always open to hearing what the PlayStation community is interested in to enhance their gaming experience. Fortnite is already a huge hit with PS4 fans, offering a true free-to-play experience so gamers can jump in and play online. With 79 million PS4s sold around the world and more than 80 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network, we’ve built a huge community of gamers who can play together on Fortnite and all online titles. We also offer Fortnite cross-play support with PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, expanding the opportunity for Fortnite fans on PS4 to play with even more gamers on other platforms.”

Blocking people from playing a game they’ve made a decent amount of progress in doesn’t seem like Sony is open to feedback, nor does it seem like the publisher really is concerned with this major issue that’s causing so much trouble within the community. What needs to happen is some sort of workaround so no one has to lose their hard-earned progress just to take the game with them on the go…or else Fornite might start suffering, big time, unfortunately.
