Speedrunner Completes the Entire Fallout Franchise in Less Than Ninety Minutes

The Fallout franchise has existed since the launch of the original Fallout in 1997. Since then, almost half a dozen different titles have been released; first by Interplay Entertainment and then by Bethesda, after their acquisition of the franchise. Altogether, the franchise spans around one hundred hours of content. However, a speedrunner has now completed a full Fallout speedrun of every game in the franchise; all in less than ninety minutes!

The Entire Fallout Speedrun

As part of the ongoing “Any% Main Series” the questionably-named speedrunner “tomatoanus” completed the entire Fallout anthology; namely, Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4. Note that the speedrun did not include the spin-off titles Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, or Fallout Shelter.

Tomatoanus was able to use a variety of glitches, tricks, and other exploits to complete all five titles in under ninety minutes; 89 minutes and 17 seconds, to be exact. He was able to beat the first Fallout in just 5 minutes, while Fallout 2 and 3 only took around 15 minutes. His speedrun has set a new world record for the series.

While some of the games can simply be beat quickly by rushing to the right location, others required more complex trickery. For example, in both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, tomatoanus was able to use a glitch to move at 160% speed; by crippling both of his character’s legs and saving and reloading at that moment, he causes the normal 60% speed reduction to change to an addition. He was also able to glitch out of the game’s boundaries and move through the void to quickly bypass sections.

Streamer Completes Fallout Speedrun with Crippled Leg Trick

The most technically developed game in the series, Fallout 4, took the longest amount of time to beat; 42 minutes and 54 seconds, almost 50% of the total speedrun. Tomatoanus wasn’t able to use the same leg-crippling trick to move faster. However, he was able to deploy a variety of other tricks to beat the game at a truly impressive speed. Now completed, a new bar has been set for other speedrunners hoping to claim the world record for the franchise.
