Steep Switch Looks to Be Canceled, Development Has Stopped According to Developer

It appears that Steep Switch has been canceled. The official Steep Twitter account has confirmed that development on the title for Nintendo Switch has stopped entirely for the time being. This decision certainly makes the probability of the sports game coming to the hybrid console unlikely at this point, though, there is room for this to change in the future.

The reason behind development stopping on Steep Switch is in order to focus on the platforms that the game is already available on. The developer is focusing its resources on bringing new content and support to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions. This has resulted in the Nintendo Switch port being neglected.

Steep Switch canceled

News of this didn’t come in an announcement from the developer or Ubisoft, but simply as a response to a Twitter user earlier today. The user asked about any news regarding Steep Switch, to which the official Steep Twitter page responded by stating the following:

“We are wholly dedicated to supporting the live game, and made the decision to stop Steep development on the Nintendo Switch platform to focus on bringing new live content and challenges to Steep players instead. We’ll have more exciting news to share soon.”

While this does leave some room for Steep Switch development to continue in the future, we recommend that you don’t get your hopes up. This is actually surprising news given publisher Ubisoft’s strong support for the Nintendo Switch. Games like Mario+Rabbids did extremely well, despite being only available on that platform.

Thankfully, we do have some Ubisoft titles to look forward to in the future for Nintendo Switch even if it might not be Steep Switch. We know that Child of Light and Valiant Hearts are both coming to Switch from Ubisoft later this year. You can read the full announcement here.
