Suda 51: Killer 7 Switch Port Depends on Capcom

Killer 7 has become a widely recognized cult classic. Goichi Suda – Suda 51 – is pretty aware of this fact as well. In fact, he actually wants the game to reach more people on multiple platforms. However, as recently pointed out during a Fandom interview. Killer 7 being on more consoles like the Nintendo Switch depends more on Capcom. But why? Didn’t he create Killer 7?

The Cult Classic Coming to a Hybrid Console

During the interview, Goichi Suda talked about his desire regarding a port of Killer 7 on the Switch. “I’d love to bring Killer 7 to Switch,” says Suda. “However, Capcom owns 100% of the rights to that game. It’s really thanks to them that the PC version came out at all just because they OK’d it and a publisher – NIS America –  came along to help distribute it.”

Suda 51 then proceeded to talk about how the marketing of the Steam version of the game was non-existent. “The thing about Killer 7 is that it really was a sudden release. We weren’t able to do much promotion for it before it came out, so I really feel like I have a duty to make sure that people are even aware that it exists.”

Now, it’s clear that Capcom is definitely open to making the cult classic game come to various platforms. If that wasn’t the case, the PC port wouldn’t have existed, to begin with. However, Suda 51 definitely feels confident that Capcom might give him a chance of bringing the game to platforms like the Switch sooner than later.

It might also depend on the success of Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes. As Goichi Suda has pointed out previously, the fate of the franchise depends on the success of the spin-off. Perhaps Capcom is testing waters to see whether or not Suda 51’s games will be well-received on the hybrid console.
