Super Mega Baseball 3 Franchise Mode Details Under Spotlight With New Reveal Video

On Friday, April 8, Metalhead Software released a second Super Mega Baseball 3 reveal video. While the first reveal video gave an overview of what to expect, the newest video contained a more in-depth look at what’s on the way for the upcoming sports game. So let’s jump into what sorts of new aspects will be included in the third installment of SMB.

Super Mega Baseball 3 Franchise mode among new improvements for the game

Scott from Metalhead Software was back again to help fans learn what’s new when Super Mega Baseball 3 drops later this month. In the second reveal video, he spotlights Franchise Mode along with other game modes.

The new Super Mega Baseball 3 Franchise mode is part of the game that many gamers will welcome with open arms. It features the ability to decide which players you want to spend on, whether improving them through development opportunities or signing rookies and/or free agents. Players will see their overall skills and ratings improve or decline with age, with some unpredictability tossed in.

Here’s a look at the mode’s Franchise Hub including various options on the left side and the upcoming game on the right side.

For the franchise, players will also come and go into the talent pool. For example, a team may release a player, making them a free agent you can sign, if you have the right offer. Older vets who stay free agents for too long will choose to retire. In addition, there will be rookies you can add to your roster if you want. You can also release players to open up your roster for new ones. Of course releasing and signing players will affect your budget.

As mentioned, skills can be improved, and this is done through player development opportunities. You’ll have to strategically use your budget to determine what to spend on in terms of the best value for your team.

Based on the reveal video, Super Mega Baseball 3 Franchise mode will give gamers a lot of customization and options to try to take their team to the next level. One thing Scott touched upon is that they’ll implement community feedback into how they adapt the mode going forward.

SMB3 release date, cost, and console details

Now that we’ve seen Super Mega Baseball 3 Franchise mode and other new features in the reveal video, how about when and where to get the game. As of right now, there is no official SMB3 release date but Metalhead expects it this month.

On Friday (April 8), developers provided an update on a subReddit saying that due to COVID-19 there may be delays. They’re hoping right now to still deliver within the April timeframe they originally planned. However, it’s possible the game could come later based on the ongoing pandemic.

The game will be available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam (PC). In that same subReddit mentioned above, there was talk of a special online feature they’re working on. It wasn’t specifically named, but could it possibly involve cross-platform play?

As far as cost goes, this one checks in at an affordable $44.99, which is lower than most sports titles. Games like EA’s library including FIFA, Madden, or NHL and MLB The Show typically cost $59.99 for a standard version.
