Heading into the holiday season, you might be shopping for something special for that PS5 player on your list. Or maybe you just want to get something awesome for yourself. Either way, here is a list of some of the best PS5 games for December 2022.
1. The Callisto Protocol – December 2nd
Sci-fi fans are eagerly anticipating the release of The Callisto Protocol at the start of December. This game will take you to the moon Callisto, where you will play a character by the name of Jacob Lee who is incarcerated in Black Iron Prison. Something awful is unfolding around you as the inmates transform into monsters. Your job? Get to the bottom of what is happening and survive long enough to make it out alive.
This game is said to be similar to Dead Space, so if you have been looking to scratch that particular itch, you are going to want to put The Callisto Protocol at the top of your holiday wishlist.
2. Marvel’s Midnight Suns – December 2nd
If you love everything Marvel, you are going to want to pick up a copy of Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The release of this game was delayed multiple times. Previously, we thought it would come out on October 7th. But it will finally arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC on December 2nd (it will also be available on PS5, Xbox One and Switch eventually).
In this tactical RPG, you take on the role of “The Hunter,” a superhero you can customize. With more than 40 powers available, you can truly personalize your approach as you and your team of heroes battle Lillith, Mother of Demons.
3. Need for Speed Unbound – December 2nd
Another of the big releases slated for December this year is Need for Speed Unbound, the latest installment in the popular racing series. This game will take players to Lakeshore City, which is similar to Chicago. The open world will feature street racing, heat, customization, and a distinctive art style.
NFS Unbound was developed by Criterion Games. This developer has not put out a Need for Speed game since it worked on 2013’s NFS Rivals and NFS Most Wanted the year before.
4. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion – December 13th
If you have been wanting to dive back into Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII from 2007, now is your chance. This December, gamers will have a chance to play a remastered version called Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion on PS5 and other major platforms.
Final Fantasy fans can look forward to HD graphics, new 3D models, new voice acting, an enhanced combat system, and a new soundtrack. The story will remain intact, but it will also tie into the Final Fantasy VII Remake project. So, this is a great way to get yourself hyped up for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which is likely to release late in 2023.
5. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition – December 14th
Have you been longing to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on your PS5? You will get your chance when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition launches in mid-December on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Good news—if you already own The Witcher 3, you can grab this edition as a free upgrade.
What can you look forward to with this edition of The Witcher 3? For one thing, load times will be a lot quicker. You’ll also be able to enjoy support for ray tracing, integrated mods, and even some brand new content.
You’ll be glad to know that the Complete Edition includes the base game as well as the expansions “Blood and Wine” and “Hearts of Stone” plus all other DLCs that have come out for the game. So, it is a great value that will provide you with many, many hours of entertainment.
