The Division 2: Redditor Details How To Find Open World Weapon Skin Crates

The Division 2’s post-apocalyptic rendition of Washington D.C. has no shortage of hidden secrets. Some secrets lead to tangible rewards, others are of the purely fun variety. Fortunately for avid Division 2 collectors, the secret we’re about to discuss is of the former category.

Redditor Kataki recently tuned their fellow Division 2 fans into an oft-overlooked element of the game’s open world. It turns out that tucked away in the game’s hidden corners are unique olive-colored weapon crates. When opened, these olive crates award a weapon skin along with their usual gear drops.

According to some testing Kataki performed, the crates have the following properties:

  • Crates are found in specific locations including open world landmarks and story missions.
  • Each crate “resets” after 24 hours, which means they can essentially be “farmed.”
  • A player should be at least level 10 to ensure a weapon skin drops from an opened crate.
  • Multiple level 10 characters on the same account can be used to open the same crate multiple times.
  • There are 10 weapon skins in total to find, with no duplicate drops. This means no more skins should drop after you’ve gotten all 10.
  • Dropped weapon skins are account-wide, which means all your characters can use them.

Kataki also provided a list and accompanying screenshots for all the olive weapon crates they’ve found so far. There appears to be at least one olive crate hidden in each major story mission. Some crates also only spawn in the open world during a specific bounty or side mission.

According to the current list, Kataki and their fellow Redditors have tracked down 14 olive crates in total. This means that a dedicated runner could get all the weapon skins in one go if they wanted to. More casual players can also just find a crate or two and farm them over multiple days. If you have multiple characters at level 10 or higher, the process is even quicker.
