‘The Hunter and The Beast’ Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC Announced

Following a teaser which was posted online yesterday, Creative Assembly has officially announced the next upcoming Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC with a new trailer. This DLC, entitled “The Hunter and The Beast,” will be a new Lord Pack DLC featuring the Empire and Lizardmen. On the Empire side, the DLC will add Markus Wulfhart as a new Legendary Lord. Meanwhile, the Lizardmen will gain Nakai the Wanderer. The new DLC will launch on the 11th of September.

The Next Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC Unveiled

The Hunter and The Beast will be the next Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC, following on from The Prophet and The Warlock. Interestingly, it will, as a result, be the second DLC in a row to feature the Lizardmen. As usual for a Lord Pack DLC trailer, some of the new units coming in the DLC can be seen in the trailer. This includes a massive crocodilian monster for the Lizardmen, as well as a new Kroxigor unit and Razordons. Meanwhile, the Empire will gain bow-armed Hunters. They will also gain a new unit which seems to be a wagon loaded with troops, or even a volley gun!

When it comes to the Legendary Lords, the Lizardmen will gain Nakai the Wanderer. This will bring their total number of Legendary Lords up to 5. “Nakai the Wanderer, revered Kroxigor of the first-spawning, is a living legend among the Lizardmen,” reads the trailer description; “Wandering the jungles of Lustria since the destruction of his home-city of Tlanxla during the Great Catastrophe, he follows where the Great Plan wills him”. Much as Tehenhauin was the first Skink Legendary Lord in the last DLC, Nakai will be the first Kroxigor.

The Empire, on the other hand, will be getting Markus Wulfhart, the imperial Huntsmarshal; “Fearless, charismatic, daring: these are but a few of the epithets bestowed upon Markus Wulfhart, the Huntsmarshal of Emperor Karl Franz”. Wulfhart’s lore generally has him hunting monsters in the forests of the Empire. However, it seems that he has now led an Empire expedition to the jungles of Lustria. Interestingly, this will theoretically give the Empire a totally new starting position on another continent. At present, all three Empire Legendary Lords share the same starting position. It’s currently unknown whether this DLC will allow players to play as the Empire in the game’s Vortex campaign. (Though it certainly seems a distinct possibility.) At present, as the Empire are a faction from the first game, they are only playable in Mortal Empires.
