The World Ends With You: Final Remix Is Adding New Badges and Music Tracks Not Seen in the Original

The World Ends With You: Final Remix is a remaster of a ported Square Enix-published DS game – sounds confusing? Well, it’s actually really simple. The World Ends With You first released on the DS way back in 2007, but then – like other Square Enix titles – got ported over to iOS and Android devices in 2012, adding in some new features with updated visuals. And now, six years later, the RPG is heading on over to the Switch for a brand-new audience. Square Enix is even adding in some new music, pins for combat, and cooperative play that was not seen in the original.

Here are the three new pins that Square Enix has just revealed for the Switch version:

  • The Cruel Fortune-Teller: causes swords to fly out all around Neku, damaging the noise all around the screen.
  • Hermit Crab Phaser: this makes Neku run around the field at his leisure, damaging enemies he comes in contact with.
  • Hanayome Date: this creates a huge sphere that floats in the air and hurts noise who manage to touch it.

Brand new tracks will also be appearing in The World Ends With You: Final Remix and some of the arranged songs will have a completely different sound compared to the originals. You can even switch back and forth from the old tracks to the arranged trakcs anytime through the menu.

If you’ve never played through The World Ends With You, here’s a little synopsis to get you going. The setting takes place in Tokyo, Japan, where there is a realground (RG) and an underground (UG). Everyday life takes place in the RG while the Reaper’s game takes place in the UG. When people die in the real world, they can be brought back to life by competing in the Reaper’s game by offering their most prized possession. Win and you might just be able to come back to life or become a Reaper in the next game; fail to complete the objectives given to you in the week and you will face erasure, meaning you will cease to exist.

The World Ends With You: Final Remix has no release date for the west, but stay tuned for more info as the months go by.
