There Are Now 36 Million Subscribers on PS Plus

It’s been a banner year for Sony where PlayStation is concerned. Even though PlayStation 4 is nearing the end of its lifecycle, it is still performing stupendously well, with more than 94 million units shipped. And now there is a new impressive statistic to add, and that is that PS Plus subscribers now number around 36 million.

The Ranks of PS Plus Subscribers Have Swelled to 36 Million

This information comes from Sony’s recent earnings report. These PS Plus subscribers are playing on a variety of platforms. This includes not just the PS4, but also PS3 and PS Vita.

The report does not provide an elaborate breakdown within these categories. But we do know that Sony has plans to cut off support for PS3 and PS Vita customers through PS Plus beginning in March.

That probably means that Sony isn’t too concerned with the money it could lose out on through that decision. This in turn means that the vast majority of PS Plus members are likely playing on PS4.

All told, it looks like Sony is on track for a great start to 2019. This is going to be an unusual and interesting year. The company has already announced it will not be at E3. Does that mean we’ll be getting our first look at the PlayStation 5 soon? It is certainly possible. Sony is closing the doors on the past and looking toward the future.
